7 & 8 June - This atmospheric folk festival in Groningen's Stadspark celebrates its 11th edition and is known for its unique line-up of bands. And apart from the music, there is also plenty of other things to experience: from sword fighting to bagpipe playing.

25 to 28 June - The ENTER Festival is a new, nationwide graduation festival for theatre and dance students. During the festival, graduates from various courses present their final works, ranging from theatre and dance to mime and performance art.

1,4 and 5 July - Summerstage is a brand new series of summer concerts taking place in the green heart of the Stadspark. Big artists like Neil Young, Acda & de Munnik and The Teskey Brothers will come to Groningen. Now just hope it rains sunshine.

3 to 6 July - As soon as the sun shows itself, the Smaak Festival descends on the Noorderplantsoen. Think food trucks, smoking barbecues, and live music. Stroll along the ponds, taste the many worldly flavours and return home with a full belly.

5 July - On Saturday 5 July, Groningen celebrates Keti Koti. A day full of music, dance and culinary traditions from Surinamese and Caribbean culture. There is plenty to do such as a food market and various musical performances both in the afternoon and evening.

14-24 August - Every year in August, Noorderplantsoen is the stage for Noorderzon. Eleven days of theatre, dance, music and visual arts, both on open-air stages and in intimate tents. Of course, the delicious food trucks are not to be missed either.

Groningens Onzet
28 August - This holiday is also known as Bommen Berend. We celebrate that Groningen withstood the siege of the German bishop of Münster. At Zuiderhaven, there is a big fireworks show and there are stages and activities at several locations.

6 and 7 September - The Stadspark bursts into life during Hullaballoo! From fat headliners such as The Script, Kensington and Goldband to emerging talent and local heroes: the line-up is as colourful as the festival itself. A perfect end to the festival summer.
