Meet and greet with Santa and his elves

11 December, 15 December, 18 December and 22 December - Pay a magical visit to Santa's study in Martinitoren. On four days in December, you can take a free photo with Santa and his elves, and children will also receive a small gift in the process. The study is open from 2pm to 5pm. A unique chance to meet Santa up close and a heartwarming experience full of Christmas spirit, high above the city.

12 December to 31 December - Be enchanted by the Fraeylemaborg this Christmas holiday and enjoy the borg's period rooms beautifully decorated with Christmas trees, lights and flower arrangements, creating a magical atmosphere. 29 December - Become a real nature researcher during this afternoon at bezoekerscentrum Dollard. Discover all about the mysterious world of owls. First watch a fascinating film about the Breebaartpolder and then get to work yourself. Pick out a real pellet and find out what the owl ate. End the afternoon creatively by making your own owl mask. Free entry and an educational outing full of fun for the whole family.

My first festival

29 December - Groningen' De Oosterpoort is turning into a vibrant festival for young and old. My First Festival is especially for children aged 2 to 12, but other family members are also welcome. Dance along with Douwe Bob, craft Swiftie bracelets, enjoy musical theatre and get something tasty from the food trucks. 31 December - End 2024 with the magical 3,2,1 Gold & New Countdown show on Groningen's atmospheric Grote Markt. Stroll past impressive light installations, unique performances and DJs who will bring the atmosphere to a climax. The Ferris wheel and interactive art make the evening extra special. Together with many others, count down to 2025. An atmospheric celebration that brings young and old together in a sparkling start to the new year.
