Vogelkijkhut Olde Mart
Close to the Leekstermeer are the Lettelberterpetten, a special nature reserve created in the early 20th century. Between 1900 and 1920, peat was excavated here to be used as fuel. What remained turned into a varied landscape of water, marsh and rough vegetation.

Het Groninger Landschap has set out a beautiful walking route through the Leekstermeer area. Along the path you will find various information boards with interesting facts about nature and the landscape. On the way, you will pass bird-watching hut the Olde Mart, where you can observe numerous bird species in peace and quiet without disturbing them. Inside the hut, there are information panels about the bird species present. Further along the route is a watchtower. From this tower you have a wonderful view of the entire Leekstermeer and the surrounding nature.
