This guesthouse dates from 1873 and has now been designated a national monument. The Middengasthuis was founded by the Algemeen Diakengezelschap, a society established in 1838 to engage in charitable work, among other things. Reformed people aged 55 and over could buy a place in the Middengasthuis. After World War II, the function of the hospice changed and it took on more of a social housing function. Today, the guest house is owned by a housing corporation.
