Location
People have been seeking refuge here since the year zero. Initially against the high water of the Wadden Sea, which could flow deep into the Groningen land. Nowadays to find peace and inspiration. The Pieterpad
Basecamp is right on the first stage of the Pieterpad. After starting in Pieterburen, you cross the Maarhuizen mound after about 10 km. You can extend your route by walking the prologue before the stage; a 'warm-up' of 10 km, during which you can also put your feet in the Wadden Sea. Then the walk totals 20km.
From Basecamp you can walk back to Pieterburen the next day or continue to Winsum NS (4 km), Sauwert NS (15 km) or Groningen NS (25 km). You will receive information about the routes after booking.
