Flower fair

On Friday 3 April 2026, the annual Bloemenjaarmarkt in Groningen will take place again. This colourful event, traditionally held on the last Friday before Easter, brings the city to life with hundreds of cheerful flowers and plants. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of beautiful houseplants, flowers, seeds, tools and much more. The atmospheric market stretches across Oude Ebbingestraat, Grote Markt, Nieuwe Markt and A-Kerkhof, where countless stalls are filled with everything green and flower lovers could want.

Flower pot

Because there is so much beauty to discover and you may not want to lug your purchases around all day, you can make use of the handy flower depot on the Grote Markt. Here you can store your plants and flowers for free between 09:00 and 18:00 so you can continue strolling along the stalls without any worries. Later in the day, you can easily collect your purchases and go home with a full bag.

With a lovely spring sun possibly coming out, this is a perfect day to enjoy to the full, but besides browsing for flowers and plants, it is also the designated day to explore the city further. Besides the colourful stalls, you can enjoy wandering around the city, past the many shops and cosy terraces. Take a break in between to enjoy a drink and the lively atmosphere, before continuing your way past all the beauty the market and the city have to offer.
