Kerk Vierhuizen
Originally, this church was built in the 12th or 13th century. Not much can be seen of the medieval tufa church walls today. Over the years, the church has been adapted, rebuilt and even saved from destruction many times.

There used to be a freestanding tower near the church. It was used as a guide when the border between Groningen and Friesland was established. In 1839, the tower was demolished and replaced by the current tower, which was built on the west side of the church. The swinging bell dates back to 1630 and was stolen away by the Germans during the Second World War. After the war, it was found again and hung in the tower again. In 2007, the church was thoroughly restored, thanks to a prize from the Bank-Giro lottery. The church won a competition in which monuments had a chance to win one million in restoration funds.
