The bicycle route 'Van haver tot gort op het Hogeland' takes you 44 kilometres along 24 places that tell you all about nature, regional products and the history of the Hogeland. Wadden Gold

The land, the mud flats and the water provide pure regional products. The regional products with the Waddengoud quality mark are made locally and sustainably. The route 'From oats to groats on the Hogeland' takes you along the regional products and makers of this area. For example, do you know what gort is? It became world-famous, but few people know that it is a lost regional product of the Hogeland, which conquered the world from Warffum. During the route, stop at a farm ice cream maker for a well-earned ice cream on the Wadden dyke. Or in Baflo, enjoy the 'UNESCO intangible cultural heritage' the Groningen eierbal.

Smallest seaport

During the route, you cycle via the historic villages of Usquert, Warffum, Baflo, Saaxumhuizen and Den Andel to the Netherlands' smallest seaport 'Noordpolderzijl'. From the dike, you have a wide view over the mud flats, the salt marshes, the Wadden Sea and the old fishing harbour. On the other side, you can see the village of Noordpolderzijl, where the nostalgic living room café 't Zielhoes is located. World-famous American musician Bob Dylan once paid a surprise visit here during one of his European tours. The route takes you past the different villages and tells the historical story.
