Uitwateringssluis Noordpolderzijl
In 1811, the Noorderdijk was constructed, with this drainage sluice built immediately. This allowed excess water from the Noordpolder to be discharged into the Wadden Sea.

In 1981, a modern, electric pumping station was installed next to the lock. De oude sluis was no longer needed since then. Somewhat later, the sea dike was raised, as part of the Delta Act. On the Wadden Sea side, the drainage sluice was built into the dike, so that from that side it completely blends into the landscape. Above the culvert opening is a commemorative stone. It bears the year 1811. There are also two memorial stones bricked to both lock walls. This is in memory of later repairs to the lock. The nearby house is the former official residence of the lock keeper.
