The Historische Scheepswerf Wolthuis from 1690 is one of the oldest shipyards in the province of Groningen. The yard shows visitors how wooden and iron ships used to be built, using authentic tools and machinery.

The Historische Scheepswerf Wolthuis (www.historischescheepswerf.nl) from 1690 is one of the oldest shipyards in the province of Groningen. The yard is furnished in the state of the early 20th century. The authentic machinery and shipbuilding methods used at the time are demonstrated or can be viewed via a video tour. In a permanent exhibition, one can follow the building process through tools, text boards and sounds. In the visitor centre, visitors can choose from the well-stocked shop stock or consult the nautical library, while enjoying a cup of coffee or soft drink.
Opening hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 16:00 and from April to. September also on Saturdays from 13:00 to 16:30.
