When the railway opened, a simple little station building stood here. This was not replaced by the present station building until 1915. The most striking part of the building is the bay window in the platform facade. Signals, switches and the level crossing used to be operated from this bay. From 1989, this was centrally controlled from Groningen and the building also lost its ticket office function. In 2004, the station building was designated a national monument. Today, the station building houses a museum of hand tools.
