Galerie Gewaagd

Galerie GEWAAGD seeks to highlight the tension between (usually) two different artists with highly diverse bodies of work. It is always a quest to bring these widely varying forms of expression together into a beautiful, exciting or harmonious whole.

The gallery space adds to the sense of excitement. It is housed in a former grain processing plant. The concrete pillars (designed to support the barrels of stored grain) and the chutes in the ceiling are remnants of this past.

In front of the building, situated close to the Wadden Sea, stands the original weighbridge – hence the name GEWAAGD.

Galerie Gewaagd is open from Friday to Sunday, from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm or by appointment. The exhibition season runs from Easter through to November. A new exhibition opens approximately every six weeks. The winter period is used to seek out new exhibitors.

We have more to offer than just art. Think, for example, of our coffee shop (where we also serve tea, of course), or the stunning panoramic view from the church tower in Hornhuizen.
