Kerk Kropswolde
Before the present church of Kropswolde was built here, another church stood on this spot. This was built here as early as 1350, but was demolished in 1773 due to danger of collapse.

The only thing spared from demolition was the freestanding tower that belonged to the church. Master carpenter Geert Gonsema was responsible for building the new church, which was inaugurated in December 1773. It is a simple, three-sided enclosed hall church that looks somewhat plump. This is due to the relatively small tower, but mainly because the wall areas between the buttresses are filled with relatively small round-arch windows. In the 1950s, the interior of the church was demolished and the arrangement of the furniture was changed considerably. The old Louis XV pulpit was replaced by a (at the time) modern one made of plain wood. A restoration in 1986 addressed both the interior and exterior of the church and tower. This is also when the monumental nineteenth-century pulpit, from the church of Weiwerd demolished in 1984, was installed.
