Take a closer look
Along the waterfront, in a green space near Boerhavelaan, three small living rooms have been built. Complete with lamps, sofa, a table and even slippers. The living rooms were conceived by artist Lena van der Wal. She wanted to use them to create homely meeting places so that local residents can visit each other on the street. Van der Wal was commissioned to create this work of art by Groningen housing corporations De Huismeesters and Nijestee. They wanted to give something back to the residents of the south-west quadrant of the Corpus den Hoorn district to compensate for the inconvenience during a major neighbourhood renovation.
