Stadsmarkering S10/ Cruoninga
In 1990, the city of Groningen celebrated its 950th anniversary. In honour of this, a contemporary city gate was placed along each of the city's main access roads.

Architect Daniel Libeskind developed these city gates. The tenth sign stands in the city centre on the Martinikerkhof. The Saint Walburg Church stood here until 1672. The city marker stands where a well used to be. For this reason, philosopher Paul Virilio designed the sign in the shape of a point. The vertices point to the other nine markers located at the edge of the city. The designer argues that modern man needs a central point in his life in order to dream. This well could be such a place.
