Hoogkerksterbrug
In 1996, the Hoogkerster bridge was in need of major maintenance. The Hoogkerk Art Committee seized that moment to do something artistic with the bridge.

Artist Sies Bleeker was commissioned to give the bridge a whole new look. He determined the colours and applied a red-coloured head to the top of the bridge. The stylised, slightly receding head with the bulbous chin and small nose is a kind of logo of Bleeker. The little man appears in almost all his work, with which he signed the bridge, so to speak.
