The exterior of the church, with its round-arched spandrels and round-arched friezes, is predominantly Romanesque. The interior, with its domed vaults and imitation brickwork, is late Romanesque. The 13th-century church was built during the transitional period from Romanesque to Late Romanesque church architecture. The vaults feature depictions of Christ, Saint Catherine at the wheel, Saint Sebastian (the third-century martyr after whom the church is named) and the Virgin and Child. These paintings had been hidden for centuries beneath a layer of lime and have been revealed again following restoration work.
