Eendenkooi Nieuw Onrust
Eendenkooi Nieuw Onrust was built in 1898 and belonged to the farm of the same name. The duck decoy is situated close to the sea and is therefore known as a ‘sea decoy’.

Continuous reed mats are attached along the catch pipes; this is how you can tell that the cage is of the Frisian type. In other types, the mats are arranged diagonally behind one another and are staggered. The duck decoy is used to catch ducks for consumption or for research. Peace and quiet are very important for the ducks, which is why the eendenkooi Nieuw Onrust can only be visited under the supervision of the decoy keepers. Please check the Groninger Landschap website.
