Heerlijk Westerwolds Land is an arable plot of 2.4 hectares surrounded by some 1.6 hectares of forest. It is an initiative of Jan Dommerholt and nutritionist Rineke Dijkinga. The food forests surrounding the plot contribute to this soil health and biodiversity.
The arable plot is divided into 5 small fields on which different crops are grown. Between each field is a wooded bank on which organic vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit are grown. Take a stroll across our land and settle down on one of the seats we have created. Be welcome!

As for our food and drink, over 60% of what you eat at our rest stop comes from the region and/or our own land. Pick your own mint for a cup of tea. Or drink a nice cup of ice tea we've made with herbs and flowers from the land.

The biscuit or cake served with your coffee or tea is also a little different: everything is handmade, free from refined sugars and white flour, and contains only pure ingredients sourced (mainly) from Westerwolde. For example, we bake our Westerwolde cake using five organic grains from Westerwolde.

Explanation of accessibility public transport:
Sellingen can be reached by a local bus from Stadskanaal or Ter Apel. From the bus stop, it is about another 10-minute walk to PUUR Westerwolde.
For those who like to combine the train with the bike: Arriva allows you to take your bike on the train for a small fee outside rush hour. From Winschoten station, PUUR Westerwolde is just under 30 kilometres by bike. - Explanatory parking: PUUR Westerwolde is located at the State Forestry Commission site "De Noordmee" and has a spacious car park.
