De Noordooster - a name with history
The name De Noordooster is a nod to the rich history of this location. In the days of the NOLS railway line (Noord-Ooster Locaal Spoorweg-Maatschappij), which connected Delfzijl with Groningen and the region since 1883, there was already a hotel here bearing the same name. At the time, the railway station and hotel were an important meeting point for travellers, traders and sailors. By reintroducing this historic name, we honour the past and give it a contemporary interpretation.
