Uitkijktoren De Baak

From Uitkijktoren De Baak in National Park Lauwersmeer, you have a wonderful view of the nature reserve and its inhabitants.

Uitkijktoren De Baak is located in the newly developed Kollummerwaard area of the State Forestry Commission. You can walk around freely in this former shooting range, but some areas are not accessible. The area is grazed by Konik horses and Scottish Highlanders, which sometimes makes the path to the watchtower more difficult. From the lookout point, you can also spot many birds that live in the nature reserve. These include the bittern, snipe, bearded reedling and great egret. Birds of prey like the marsh harrier also hunt around here. There is plenty to discover.

National Park Lauwersmeer
When the Lauwerszee was closed off from the Waddenzee in 1969, the Lauwersmeer was created. At the time, nobody could have predicted that the Lauwersmeer area would become one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. This combination of vistas of the horizon, magnificent flora and fauna and so much space for recreation cannot be found anywhere else.
