Westerkwartier Horse Quarter

Stichting Westerkwartier Paardenkwartier started surveying the area's riding and driving routes with an enthusiastic group of people in 2012. The result is a collection of 16 different routes of about 20 kilometres. Each route has a different theme, from an Abel Tasman route to a Van Starkenborgh route, and from a Nienoord route to a Bakkerom route. When setting out the routes, the organisation sought connections with local horse-related entrepreneurs. This makes a nice connection between the routes and the facilities entrepreneurs have to offer.

The Westerkwartier hosts numerous equestrian events every year, and the horses that perform at top level at these events are also bred in this area. Some even participate in the Olympic Games. Horse lovers from all over the country gather here. So special to experience a competition or event once. Even if you don't know much about equestrian sports yet.
