Kerk Opwierde

Opwierde's church was built in the 13th century. This can be seen, among other things, in the two niches decorated with wickerwork, a recognisable element from that time.

Take a closer look

The church has a semicircular pulpit with lectern, soundboard and a simple baptismal railing from 1828. The dividing wall in the church comes from the kerk van Farmsum and dates from the eighteenth century. In addition, the church owns a one-manual organ from the second half of the nineteenth century. In 2003, the church was transferred to the Old Groningen Churches Foundation. Since then, the church has hosted various cultural activities.
