In Warffum's oldest street, deaconess houses were built in 1870 on the site of the former almshouse.

This was commissioned by the Reformed Church, which was responsible for caring for the poor at the time. Initially, eight housing units were built in this, later changed to four houses. The houses cannot be visited inside.
