In Warffum's oldest street, deaconess houses were built in 1870 on the site of the former almshouse.

This was commissioned by the Reformed Church, which was responsible for welfare at the time. Initially, eight residential units were built here; this was later reduced to four homes. The interiors of the homes are not open to the public.
