The church was built in the late 13th century. An original low window with old stained glass can still be found in the south wall. After a previous tower collapsed in 1738, the present tower was built in 1751.

The church has original furniture with a pulpit from the first half of the 18th century, a pew from the 18th century and pews from the 19th century. The supper table from the second quarter of the eighteenth century may have come from the borg at Aduard. The organ was built by Lambertus van Dam in 1809 and enlarged by his sons in 1834.
