The Battle of Heiligerlee is deeply engraved in our collective memory. On 23 May 1568, a small army led by Louis and Adolf, Counts of Nassau and the younger brothers of William of Orange, managed to inflict a sensitive defeat on the Spaniards. As a result, the Battle became known as the beginning of the Eighty Years' War. The museum focuses on the discovery of the (un)truths about this Battle. With the help of a film and a wall-sized presentation, visitors are challenged to search for the meaning of the Battle themselves.
