Cycle route P+R Kardinge – Groninger Forum

Your cycle ride from P+R Kardinge starts in the sporting heart of Groningen. Swimming, golf, climbing, wakeboarding – name a sport and you can do it here. You’ll also find plenty of green space and the highest point in the province of Groningen. From the top of the Kardingebult , you can look out over the city and the surrounding countryside as far as the eye can see. After a short cycle past grazing horses on either side, you’ll eventually reach the Korreweg. There’s always something going on along this major thoroughfare for the city. Local businesses bring the area to life, whilst the art and culture on the streets give it a character all of its own. Take a look, for example, at Bernoulliplein, which is built entirely in the Amsterdam School style, or at the graffiti artwork in parkeergarage Circus. Just before you turn off towards the Boterdiep, you’ll catch a quick glimpse of a Groningen icon: the Noorderplantsoen. As you cycle along the Boterdiep, you’ll pass Simplon music venue, a great spot to discover new talent. In the alley next to this music venue, you’ll find yourself literally face to face with one of the faces of Groningen’s music scene: Jay from Dope D.O.D. is depicted here life-size. A little further on, you’ll get a taste of student life at the Student Hotel; non-students are also welcome here for a cosy meal. Cycle into the city centre via the Oude Ebbingestraat. Do pop into the many charming little shops housed in the historic buildings. After a glance at the town hall, a selfie with the Martinitoren and a glimpse of the provincial government building, you’ll eventually arrive at the Groninger Forum. Time to set off and explore the rest of the city.
