Winebar of the Year 2018: Barrel Wijnlokaal lies hidden in the Haddingestraat near the Vismarkt. Barrel has a selection of over 500 wines  by the bottle, including some very exclusive bottlings. In addition, every week we open at least 60 wines that can be ordered by the glass and are served with delicious cheeses and sliced cold meats if desired. If you would like to taste our selection of the week, be sure to order a ‘small tasting’ of 4, 6 or 8 half glasses, of course provided with a short explanation. You can also book a private wine tasting at the Barrel Wine Bar. Recently, we opened our Wijnwinkel (wine shop) at Nieuwe Ebbingestraat 23.

Time Out is a company with history. Since 1976, the Jager family has been welcoming their guests in the Poelestraat in Groningen city centre, which makes Time Out a well known address where people love to return. After the last expansion in March 2007, Eetcafé Time Out is now Grand Café Time Out. This is the place to enjoy your lunch, drink or dinner in an informal atmosphere, sometimes even with some dancing. Because of its various attractive rooms (some of which are non-smoking), Time Out is very suitable for larger groups. In summer, enjoy the outdoor café at one of the most charming squares.

The Pintelier Belgian café, which is associated with the Alliance of Beer Houses (A.B.T.), has been a household word in Groningen for years. Located in one of the oldest entertainment areas in Groningen, enjoy some Flemish hospitality. Be surprised by the extensive drinks list; with 23 draught beers and another 80 bottled ones, the Pintelier is the perfect place to enjoy your favourite abbey beer or Trappist beer. Bax Bier is a young Groningen brewery which is known for its modern classics, such as the Kon Minder and Koud Vuur. They experiment freely in their brand-new brewery to produce the best beers. Events are held in their public house next to the brewery on a regular basis, but feel free to walk in for a tasting and guided tour.
