Tasman Grain Route
The Oldambt was almost entirely swallowed up by the Dollard as a result of the storm surge of 1509. The land has gradually been reclaimed. This is still visible in the landscape, with its many dykes lying across the land like tree rings. With its vast wheat fields, Oldambt was and remains one of Europe’s largest ‘breadbaskets’. It is a beautiful landscape to sail through.
