Kringloop Overnieuw

Steentilstraat 15 - Groningen has many thrift shops by now, but Overnieuw gives it its own twist (literally). Namely, they make rings out of old teaspoons. Each spoon has a decorative end, making each piece of jewellery the only one of its kind. There is a box full of teaspoons where you pick your favourite and then it is twisted into a ring before your eyes. But you don't just have rings there, you can also score cute vintage clothes or a nice second-hand gadget for your home. Everything gets a chance at a second life here.

Aweg 8 - On holiday but still nice and close by. At Waiti Kubuli you will discover Caribbean cuisine with a fine dining experience. The restaurant is named after the original name of the Caribbean island Dominica, where one of the owners is from. They have a changing, high-quality course menu. For instance, they currently have soup with crab, dumplings and coconut and delicious bbq chicken with fresh vegetables. The menu changes every six to eight weeks, so you are always surprised.

Nieuwe Ebbingestraat 42-1 - This sandwich shop is not unknown. Raoul started selling his sandwiches in the storeroom of his terraced house. Now it has become a household name in Groningen's sandwich scene. At Oetchie, you order Surinamese puns with authentic flavours of both Groningen and Suriname. Tempeh sandwich or ketjap chicken thigh? One thing is for sure: this is a sandwich you will come back for. Everything is made from our own dough and 100% halal meat. Always fresh, always tasty.

Astraat 1 - A little piece of Italy is hidden between the Vismarkt and Westerhaven. As soon as you step inside Amici, you are transported to the sunny south. The smell of fresh pasta hangs in the air, glasses of wine are poured and crispy pizzas slide out of the oven onto the table. Try, for example, the Spaghetti alla Gricia with guanciale, served from a large Parmesan cheese, or the Risotto Zucca e Gorgonzola with pumpkin, gorgonzola and sage. Inside, it is modern but warm and tastefully decorated with tiles and colourful signs on the wall. Here you can taste real Italian cuisine together, accompanied of course by a good glass of wine. Poelestraat 16-18 - Where Vapiano used to be, Minna Foodclub is now the place to be. Four unique dining concepts under one roof, each with its own style and menu: Tanuki, Nodonado, Obento and Bingsu. Tanuki mixes traditional Asian food with street food, and on the first floor, Nodonado is all about a soy bar with cocktails and Korean fried chicken. After success in other cities, Wakuli Coffee is now also in Groningen. Here you drink coffee with a mission: more money to the farmer and more love for the planet. And good news for the Korreweg neighbourhood: there will be a new spot for a good cup of coffee. Moi! will be the new spot for a good bakkie pleur, tea and cake. After a few years out of town, Pull & Bear will return in 2026. Delicious Italian sandwiches will soon be available at Bomba on the Rademarkt. And for the flexitarians among us, something special: restaurant Blumé will open a pop-up concept from 30 October to 29 November: Soutterain 1634. Expect tasty, vegetarian dishes with the class of a fine-dining restaurant. On the spot where Blokes used to be on Poeleplein, Tokyo-inspired karaoke and cocktail bar Duke of Tokyo will soon open. Sing in your own private karaoke room or stop by for a drink or dance at the bar. A name that also pops up around town is the Art Canteen.
