YO-YO.SHOP
YO-YO.SHOP is a small boutique on Pelsterstraat, just a few steps from the Vismarkt, where new and second-hand designer fashion for men and women hangs on the same racks.

For the time being, the racks are full of carefully selected second-hand fashion: Comme des Garçons, Maison Margiela, Dries van Noten, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto and Jil Sander, alongside timeless vintage pieces. From January, new collections will be added from independent labels such as Studio Nicholson, Camiel Fortgens and Baserange. You don’t need to recognise any of these names to find something you like here; the clothes are displayed with plenty of space around them so you can browse at your leisure.
The shop is a tranquil, grey space where the clothes provide all the colour. The interior design lets the pieces speak for themselves: racks mounted on old Indonesian wooden temple bases that blend seamlessly into sleek poles, just like the mix of vintage and new items hanging from them.

The concept is entirely circular. Drop off clothes you no longer wear and receive cash or shop credit in return. That way, you can swap that Acne Studios jacket hanging at the back of your wardrobe for a jumper from STILL BY HAND. Whatever you buy new here, provided it’s well looked after, you can later offer it up for the next round.
Caitlin and Bryan Sanderson have been selling independent designers and curated second-hand items since 2009. They started out in Los Angeles and subsequently ran shops in L.A. and Berlin. They now live permanently in Groningen and are keen to share their own form of circular retail with their new home town.
