Wadden Sea
UNESCO World Heritage
For the Wadden you don't have to go to an island. Along the Groningen coast you will find wide views, sturdy dykes, salt marshes full of life and nature that constantly changes with the tides. Here you feel how big the landscape is and how strong the sea has left its traces. From the endless horizon in Oldambt to the nature in National Park Lauwersmeer. Along the coast of the Wadden Sea there is surprisingly much to see and do.
Along the dike
Discover the rugged beauty of salt marshes and polders. Walk on the seabed when the Wadden is dry. See seals resting on the sandbanks, waiting for the water to return and new food to appear. Look around among the thousands of migratory birds roaming the mudflats and along the edges of the Dollard. The area invites you to visit more often. It shows you something different every time.
Discover the Wadden
You only really get to know the Wadden Sea by going out. And there are many ways to do so. Head out on a mudflat walk, taste what grows and is made here or look out for the Big Five of the Wadden area. When evening falls, the starry sky attracts all attention. Familiar or unfamiliar with the area: there is always something new to see.
