Mill The Enterprise
De Entreprise was built in 2010, but has much older predecessors.
The current De Entreprise mill dates from 2010 and is the successor to a tower mill built in 1906 and burnt down in 2000. Only the masonry stone substructure remained, the thatched roof and woodwork were lost. Some parts of the burnt mill were reused, such as the eastern pair of millstones and two field crosses; the latter were (and are) blackened, but apparently still strong enough. The Entreprise has a special track wheel: the entire rim is made in one piece, something you almost only see on German mills.
Millers Martin van Doornik and Bert Roemeling can regularly be found at the Entreprise on Sunday afternoons. Visitors are welcome. The Entreprise is also one of the stamping points of the Pronkjewailpad, a long-distance walking path through Groningen.
