National Park Lauwersmeer is a large varied nature area where there is plenty to experience. In the activiteitencentrum Lauwersnest, you can get lots of information about the area. Here, you can learn about the various birds living around the Lauwersmeer and find out how migratory birds use the area as a refuelling station in the Oost Atlantic migration route. You can also discover all about the Dark Sky Park, did you know you can make real darkness here? Take a peek into the secrets of the night and become a star in the darkness. Next to the Lauwersnest is a nest-building forest where children can build their own nest using nature materials and have fun playing. Maps, routes, books and maps about the area are all available in the shop. Several walking routes run from the centre and it also serves as a starting point for excursions.
