Hervormde kerk Vlagtwedde
At first glance, it is as if the tower and the church of Hervormde kerk Vlagtwedde do not belong together. This is because the church is covered in white plaster and the tower is not.

Incidentally, the plasterwork was only applied at the end of the nineteenth century. The church itself was built as early as the thirteenth century. There is still a photograph from 1893 showing the church without its plasterwork. Previously, there was a free-standing bell tower next to the church. This was replaced in 1865 by the current brick tower. Only the spire of the tower’s roof protrudes above the tiled roof of the church. The bell hanging in the church tower is not the original bell. It was looted by the Germans during the Second World War and has been replaced by another bell.
