Kerk Opwierde
The church in Opwierde was built in the thirteenth century. This is evident, amongst other things, from the two niches decorated with interlaced patterns, a distinctive feature of that period.

The church has a pulpit with a semi-circular basin, a lectern, a sounding board and a simple baptismal font dating from 1828. The partition wall in the church comes from the kerk van Farmsum and dates from the eighteenth century. In addition, the church possesses a single-manual organ from the second half of the nineteenth century. In 2003, the church was transferred to the Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken (Foundation for Old Groningen Churches). Since then, the church has hosted various cultural activities.
