Sint-Bartholomeuskerk
In 1509, when the Dollard flooded once again, the inhabitants of Scheemda decided to move the entire village one and a half kilometres to the north. The cruciform church was demolished and rebuilt as a hall church in its new location.

In 1570, the old freestanding tower was replaced by a new one. During severe weather, people from Scheemda could find a safe shelter there. The interior of the church looks intimate, partly due to the arrangement of the pews and the pulpit, which is placed almost in the middle. The whole is covered by a pointed, wooden barrel vault in blue-green colour. Key address: R. Mooi (Oudeweg 4, 06-31973017) and/or R.Helweg (Veenweg 133, 06-28841545)
