After operating restaurant Veldzicht in Oosterwijtwerd for several years, it was time for a new challenge for Stefan and Simone Kollumer. In 2019, they opened Herberg Restaurant Molenrij in the village of the same name. Here, hospitality is paramount and everyone is welcome. You can go there for a cup of coffee with homemade cake, lunch, a cosy drink or dinner. For dinner, you can choose between a 3 or 4-course inn menu and a 3 to 6-course culinary menu. The menus are not common or traditional and are renewed every 6 weeks, so there is regularly something new to discover. In the dishes, they use fresh local products as much as possible, such as beers from Eggens brewery in Groningen, fresh fish, crustaceans and shellfish from t´Ailand in Lauwersoog and beers from the company Het zotte Kalf from the most beautiful village in the Netherlands, Winsum. The meat served comes from the north of the Netherlands. Besides the restaurant, there is also a small room for private dining and meetings. Haven't had enough of Molenrij yet? Then you can also stay overnight in one of the inn's three rooms.
