The Alberdaheerd is situated on a site surrounded by two moats. Until the 18th century, it was known as the Alberda manor; thereafter, the farm was referred to as the Alberdaheerd.
From the 15th century until 1707, the Alberdaheerd was owned by members of the Alberda family; it then passed into the possession of Roelof Steenhuis. From 1811 onwards, members of the Cleveringa family owned the Alberdaheerd. According to a plaque on the barn, it was built or renovated in 1763. The farmhouse itself underwent extensive renovation in 1854.
In 1971, the farm came under new ownership, and the new owner established, amongst other things, a koi carp breeding farm there.
