Location
Smit Sport
Smit Sport was founded in 1957 and originally started on the Oude Schans. After moving once more to Markstraat, Smit Sport settled on Willemstraat, where the shop was based for over 50 years. Last spring, Smit Sport moved again to make way for the council’s ‘Living with a Plus’ project. This didn’t go without a hitch, but the new premises at 44 Landstraat have now been open since April.
The new shop has a retail area of 400 square metres and is compact and well-organised. The shop has been given a sporty, sleek corporate identity, and the new logo is proudly displayed on the façade. The owners, Henk and Gea Smit, are therefore very pleased with the result – a truly happy moment.

Smit Sport

Collection
As well as a new shop, Smitsport now also stocks new brands in footwear and clothing, primarily in the walking and outdoor segments. The rest of the collection is just as you’d expect from Smitsport: trainers, football, hockey, tennis, running, fitness, functional sportswear and comfortable shoes.

To meet an ever-growing demand, Smit Sport has now added comfort shoes to its range. You might think of comfort shoes as old-fashioned and stiff, but that’s no longer the case. Today’s comfort shoes have a modern look and go well with both sporty and smart styles of clothing. Many comfort shoes are ideal for everyday use, as they provide good foot support and optimal stability. These comfortable shoes are ideal for those with problematic or painful feet, and almost all feature a removable insole, meaning they can be worn with orthotics.
A large part of the range of comfort shoes is available in both standard and wide widths. Thanks to the diverse range and the Feetbox (foot scan), we can almost always provide a suitable pair. In addition, Stel Orthopaedics visits the shop once a month to offer specialist advice.
