Hervormde kerk Zuidhorn
Zuidhorn's church was built in the twelfth century. Originally, the church was built of tuff, a volcanic rock.

In the fifteenth century, the church was extended to include a brick chancel – the part of the church housing the high altar. Later, in the sixteenth century, two further transepts (structures running perpendicular to the main building) were added to the church. In the nineteenth century, the church walls were plastered over, meaning the original tuff stone is no longer visible. Services are still held in the church.
