Windmill Windlust Overschild
The Windlust is a small octagonal corn mill and was built from materials from other mills.
It was built in 1859 as a ground-sailer from second-hand material from a polder mill in Steendam. In the early 1910s, it was raised to scaffold mill with stones and beams from the demolished peat farm Van Arnhem in Foxholsterbosch. The cast-iron upper axle, which was inserted in 1931, came from the mill from the Siddebuurster polder. In the late 1940s, the inner rod was replaced by one from the demolished corn mill from Surhuisterveen.
The mill has always carried out farmer milling and still grinds grains into animal feed. Since 2021, the accompanying engine house has again housed a bronze engine, allowing mechanical grinding.
