De Houtstek
Within the existing structure of trees and hedges, which Ed and Thea van der Hout found when buying in 2001, a garden dream has been realised. Walking around, you experience different atmospheres.

From the wild plant garden, the cottage area with gravel paths, the deep pond with water lilies and the 'undulating' borders. Seats everywhere to enjoy the floral splendour. In front of the house two tightly clipped hedges, planted in semi-circles, a stately garden vase in the centre. Outside the circle, island borders have been created that soften the austere weather with airy planting. Natural forms everywhere, only in the rose garden, with its fragrant historic roses, are straight hedges. Garden windows in the planting provide views of the surrounding landscape. By incorporating heme plants and herbs in the borders, butterflies, bees and birds have also found a place to live in De Houtstek. In the garden, there is a 'pipowagen' which is set up as an exhibition space for Thea's own work. The garden is open by appointment from 1 May to 30 June, in August and in September.
