The Goede Herderkerk was designed by architect Egbert Reitsma in 1937-'38. It is a fine example of the expressionist Amsterdam School. The church, with attached tower, catechism room and church council chamber, is typical of Reitsma's pre-war churches in its construction: the floor plan in the shape of a Greek cross, the fan-shaped pews and the parabolic cross vault. The largely original interior is spanned by a wooden cross vault, and contains beautiful stained-glass windows with figurative representations from the Old Testament.
