The current residents have restored the building to its former glory as much as possible. The monumental hall with staircase and council chamber are now used as exhibition space for the gallery of the current residents.

Ten Boer's town hall was built in 1911. Before then, the municipal council met in a café across the street: 'Het Oude Raadhuis'. The town hall was designed by the municipal architect Simon Blokzijl in a style reminiscent of Berlage's Amsterdam Beurs. Like many buildings, the town hall was renovated in the 1950s and 1960s. Partly out of necessity (the building was sinking in the wet clay), but also to adapt it to the demands of the time. In the process, many authentic details were unfortunately replaced by sleek, modern elements. In 1977, the municipality exchanged the town hall for a restored farmhouse. The new occupant built a complete swimming pool in the former secretariat, which again did not do the building much good.
