About TOKO
It was the sugar factory that produced the square sugar lumps. Now, the sugar factory site is a hub for start-ups and hospitality venues, similar to the Ndsm in Amsterdam. Randstad industrial heritage linked to a water-rich nature reserve – this is where it all happens. That’s why TOKO was founded here.

TOKO is a new, inspiring meeting and event venue on the Suikerterrein in Groningen, designed by furniture and interior designer Melle Koot. Music, film and art set the mood in a building and its surroundings that are a work of art in their own right. The space has been thoughtfully furnished with sustainable materials and features a showroom showcasing local designs; from the staircases to the comfortable chairs, everything is handmade. The aroma of Koffiestation’s freshly roasted coffee beans fills the air, whilst the beer brewed at Martinus is served ice-cold.
