Sint-Petruskerk Pieterburen

The church dedicated to St Peter was built in the early 15th century; the tower (with two bells) is from 1805

Take a closer look

The weather vane shows the Alberda coat of arms. The church possesses an important, pristine interior. Unique is the magnificent carving in the 19th-century triumphal arch by carver Anthonie Wallis. In the choir is the gentlemen's bench, dedicated to the Alberda family of Dijksterhuis, made by Allert Meijer and Jan de Rijk. In the choir also hang five funeral plates for residents of the Dijksterhuis manor. The former catechism building now houses a tearoom.
