Strokartonfabriek De Toekomst
Strawboard was produced here until 1968. After that, the complex was used for a long time to refurbish and trade machines. After years of vacancy, De Toekomst has now been returned to its former state.

This factory complex originally consisted of two separate factories. De Toekomst 1, built in 1900, and De Toekomst II, from 1908. Both buildings were designed by architect Pieter Geert Cremer for the Stichting Coöperatieve Strokartonfabriek. Straw cardboard was produced here until 1968. After that, the complex was used for a long time to refurbish and trade machinery, without maintaining the buildings themselves. After years of vacancy, De Toekomst was restored to its former state as much as possible between 2009 and 2011. In 2006, the complex was used by Paul Verhoeven to film part of his film Zwartboek (Black Book).
