's Lands Huys
The original‘s Lands Huys was built before 1630, probably alongside the church and the school, amongst other buildings.
The‘s Lands Huys complex consisted of two buildings: the left-hand block (the current café-restaurant) and the right-hand block, which housed ‘Het Brouw Huys’, ‘Het Back Huys’, ‘De Paardestal’, ‘Ingenieurskamer’ and so on. At that time, the entire complex served as de Fort headquarters. Around 1900, the last remnants of this building complex were demolished.‘s Lands Huys today:
Reconstruction of the present-day‘s Lands Huys began in April 1980. It was literally rebuilt on the remains of the old foundations that had been rediscovered. Half of the old‘s Lands Huys (the left-hand block) has now been restored to its former glory and was opened in March 1982. The restaurant area (the front hall) seats around 65 people and the main hall seats around 130 people. ‘s Lands Huys is open all year round.
